- Will other members know I am a DZone MVB?
- Yes, all MVB members get elevated status and privileges on the DZone Network. Other members will see you as a MVB on all of your articles as well as your profile.
- Why do you need a photo of me?
- We encourage our members to put their photos up to help create a more sociable online environment. DZone is a grassroots, community-driven network that aims to facilitate meaningful discussion amongst industry peers. It’s always good to put a face to name!
- What other roles might be available for me in the DZone community?
- We encourage all members to participate on our DZone Network sites by voting and leaving comments on articles that may interest you. You are also encouraged to join our Refcardz Review Committee. As a committee member, you’d get a chance to shape the editorial content on all future Refcardz as well as advise on new topics.
- How can MVB members help promote DZone?
- All members are encouraged to promote DZone by spreading the word about our website and/or by putting a DZone graphic with a link back to our website on your blog/website.
- What if one of my articles becomes really popular and gets a lot of hits?
- This generally means that we have done our job and have put high quality content, such as your article/blog, in front of a larger audience than you might’ve otherwise received on your blog alone.
- Can DZone provide hosting for my blog/website?
- No, we do not provide hosting for blogs or websites.
- Can MVB members also publish articles on other sites?
- Yes, MVBs are free to publish their articles on any sites they like. We simply ask for your permission to republish your articles on our DZone Network.
- What is DZone’s audience?
- Our audience is comprised of senior developers, architects, and IT Managers working across a diverse range of industries. This audience drives over 1 million monthly visits to the DZone network.
- Can I recommend specific articles I would like to see published?
- Absolutely. Once we’ve carefully reviewed the content to determine, we will work with the author to have it republished on DZone.
- Do I have to do anything to get my articles published?
- No. We ask nothing more from you than to continue doing what you do best, writing quality content for readers. The DZone platform will take care of the rest, driving additional visibility to your selected work.
- Does DZone pay MVB members?
- While we do not provide monetary compensation to our MVB members, we do help drive significant exposure for your work throughout the software development community. Additionally, MVBs enjoy elevated status and privileges with DZone and also get to receive cool DZone schwag.
- Will I be notified when articles are republished?
- You will be notified when your articles/blogs are republished. We will also report how well they are performing on the network in terms of votes, comments and page views.
- Are you going to republish everything I write?
- Depending on the author, for each MVB we anticipate to selectively republish around 2-3 articles per month. If we find that your writing consistently resonates with our audience, we may republish more than 2-3 articles from your blog/website during the month, in which case we will consult with you in advance.. Please keep in mind that all the articles we chose to republish are carefully reviewed and selected by our Zone Leaders. Our goal is to republish quality content for our readers and at the same time provide maximum visibility and recognition for your hard work.
- Who selects which articles will be published?
- Zone leaders (ZLs). ZLs are experienced and highly respected experts in their fields that have carefully reviewed and selected exceptional articles and blogs to be published on DZone. ZLs are responsible for leading their respective Zones, ensuring that fair and honest views are voiced, and that the community gets the information they need in one reliable location.
- Where at DZone will my articles be published?
- Depending on the topic of your article, it could be selectively posted on different Zones on the DZone Network. Our Zones include Javalobby, .NET, Eclipse, Ajax, SOA, Architects, Book, Cold Fusion, Groovy, IT News, JetBrains, NetBeans, OSGI, PHP, RIA and Ruby.
- Can you just link to my blog/website instead?
- Everything we have posted on our topically-specific Zones has been full-length content pieces. It’s a system that has shown tremendous success over the years and is convenient for both our readers and writers. However, we’d be more than honored to provide clear and visible attribution to you with a reference link back to your blog/website.
- Will my articles be published under my name?
- Yes, we will be honored to give you attribution for your work and provide a reference link to your blog/website.
- How do I insert code in my posts?
Inserting code in your posts is likely something that you'll want to do. Fortunately, this isn't very hard to do. First, start a new line and where it says --Format-- in your toolbar and select "Preformatted". Then select your language from the --Styles-- dropdown. THen just start typing your code. You'll end up with something like the following when you submit your post:
puts 'Hellooooo from Ruby'
And that should get you what you want.
- How do I put images into blog posts.
With the img_assist module, it's easy. Under the main text area of teh blog post, there's an image for uploading and inserting images. Just click the image and the popup will guide you through the steps. An example image is inserted below.
In fact, we can even put images after the text.
Apparently we can only insert gif images right now.

- What other benefits are there for Zone Leaders?
- Let's face it, nobody is going to get rich off the modest monthly stipend Zone Leaders earn. If you're in it for the money, then take our advice and do something else. Anyone with the skill to qualify as a Zone Leader at DZone can certainly make more money elsewhere.
- Are Zone Leaders compensated?
Yes, most Zone Leaders receive a modest monthly honorarium for their help in creating content, managing community activities, and generally keeping things moving forward on a positive footing. Zone Leaders also enjoy additional perks like DZone t-shirts and gear, access to free books and software, conference and event passes, and other fun stuff.
Let's face it, nobody is going to get rich off the Zone Leaders honorarium. If you're in it for the money, then take our advice and do something else. Anyone with the skill to qualify as a Zone Leader at DZone can certainly make more money elsewhere.
- What is a Zone Leader?
- Zone Leaders are community members who participate regularly in the management of zones within the DZone Network. Zone Leaders usually have significant interest and expertise in one or more of the topics covered by DZone, and they enjoy sharing their knowledge with others.
